With a lead of 3:28 on Vanhoenacker. Loisel was France's long distance champion in 2005 and is known to be a strong cyclist, but it is still surprising to see him pulling away from Vanhoenacker.

Loisel just did the first 90 km of the bike in 2:09!

The fastest bike split on record here was Jurgen Zack's other-worldly 4:14 in 2001. We won't see that beaten today, but we're still looking at some quick times, it would appear.

Marino Vanhoenacker predicted that times could be faster with cooler, rainy conditions ... maybe he's going to be proven right.
